Mozilla has started to wind down work on the next generation of its Firefox browser. In today's release of beta 4 of Firefox 12, there are some improvements that will be immediately noticed by most users. Available for Windows, Mac and Linux, what has changed are the improvements under-the-hood like Firefox 4 handles Flash and more stable performance.
A Visual change has been to move links on mouse-over to the bottom of the window, instead of placing them in the address bar, as was done in previous beta version. Together with changes to the Flash management and stability, Mozilla said in its release notes for the beta of Firefox 4 12 that the browser now has a better integration of Add-ons with hardware acceleration support.
The company hopes that this will be the last beta version, the basis of an updated road map. The release of the beta XII indicates that all the hard-blocking bug, the highest priority issues with the browser development have been corrected. Barring major problems with the remaining bugs, users can expect a release candidate soon.
